From approximately three months from mid-March 2000 I had the pleasure of working closely with Ms. Susan Peabody in connection with a manuscript to which I had devoted over six years. At the conclusion of her work I volunteered to Ms. Peabody my wish to express in writing, for whatever purpose she might care to use it, my admiration for the industry, dedication and competence she exhibited.

I should explain that I practiced law in New Orleans for over 33 years and worked with numerous secretaries, paralegals and associates. Over the years I have also written three other published books on various subjects and have worked with numerous editors and secretaries on those projects. Hence I feel fully qualified to express my opinion about Ms. Peabody and her work.

From my very first contact with Ms. Peabody it was obvious that she possessed those qualities, all too rarely seen, of deep personal commitment, strong sense of obligation on any task she undertook, pride in her product, and competence that comes only with long experience. Throughout our work together there was not the slightest instance of procrastination or indifference, nor any feeling on my part that the work was being mechanically performed. On the contrary she exhibited a sustained professionalism that continually confirmed the correctness of my initial impression. I feel that her assistance to me went far beyond the task for which I engaged her. This involved only the preparation of my manuscript in proper form for printing; she was not engaged as an editor. However on numerous occasions she did perform that function, and performed it exceedingly well, for which I am most grateful. It was a pleasure working with Ms. Peabody and I would welcome a communication from any person who wishes to enquire further.

It is a pleasure to offer an enthusiastic recommendation for Ms. Susan Peabody. As I approached the final stage of preparing a book manuscript, I asked Dr. Robert West of University Press of America for a recommendation for someone to help me in the completion of a camera-ready copy for my project. He recommended Susan Peabody.

My association with Ms. Peabody began at a critical point in my manuscript. Having worked through several early drafts, I needed a competent, trusted individual to help me through the final months of the project. Her timely and professional assistance was a key to completing the book.

Although my contact with Ms. Peabody was by telephone, and primarily e-mail, it was as if she was working on location in my office. She prepared drafts promptly and followed my instructions explicitly. She was also able to follow me to the completion of the manuscript, including the final-minute corrections.

I found her rates to be reasonable and appropriate for her level of expertise. If you are looking for someone you can trust to prepare a document, I recommend her highly and without reservation. I would welcome any additional inquiries or contact you might wish to make regarding Ms. Peabody.

I have had the pleasure and benefit of working with Susan in preparing a camera-ready manuscript. About 330 printed pages, the manuscript covers literary theory in French, German, Spanish and English. Theory is examined from antiquity through the twentieth century. I mention the range of its contents because that range reveals Susan's competence to handle complex and intricate literary topics not only with expertise but also with precision.

All in all, since the manuscript had to be sent several times across the Pacific Ocean from California to Guam, USA, we worked together some five months. That span of time and numerous communications gave me a comprehensive perception of Susan's professionalism in the work she does.

My assessment of her performance throughout the entire time is A+. She not only demonstrated remarkable conscientiousness in advancing every stage of the manuscript preparation but also displayed efficiency, insight, and exceptional initiative in consummating the entire task. She made numerous intelligent suggestions; she knew well the latest requirements of academic publishing; and she proved herself an outstanding partner in advancing, expediting, completing and perfecting every detail required of a university press publication.

I hope Susan Peabody will be available to assist and guide the preparation of my future manuscripts. I recommend her without reservation.
