Introduction and Prices Camera Ready Copy helps authors prepare their manuscripts for publication. Our goal is to make your book look attractive and professional—with as little pain as possible. We have been doing this work for more than 12 years. Why go with us and not UPA? We give you more personal attention and more chances to see your book and make changes before it gets printed. Fees Our standard fee is $4/page for the initial galley proofs—unless there are complications. For instance, there may be additional charges for scanning and integrating complicated graphics, photographs, charts, artwork, etc. into the text and re-typing tables. Changes requested by the author after the initial galley proofs cost $25/hour. We also charge for the second printing and mailing the manuscript to you. Camera-ready work includes pagination; laser printing; setting fonts; inserting running heads; preparing tables of contents and other front matter; arranging headings and sub-headings; setting proper margins; integrating graphics and scanned material into the text; and, in general, doing anything required to make your book look terrific. It does not include editing, proofreading, or indexing. These services cost extra. Preparing Your Manuscript It is important that you edit your manuscript fully before sending it to us. We recommend having a professional do this. If you choose to do your own editing, you must make certain choices and stay committed to them. Very often, authors want to change their minds about the choices they have made regarding capitalization, sentence structure, vocabulary, etc. Changing any of these things after the camera-ready work is finished can be expensive and time-consuming.
